Personal Information
Name : Jason Doller
email: jason.doller@net-za.com
Background:
Jason has been interested in computers since he was about 11 when he would go to local department stores and hack around on the Atari’s, ZX Spectrum’s, and the occasional Commodore 64. When he was 12 his dad sent him on his first computer course, which went pretty well for Jason, not so much so for the rest of the class. That was in 1983. Things have only gotten better for everyone since then.
Jason has around 17 years experience with Linux (Yes, from before the official 1.x kernel was released), starting with Slackware that was installed by downloading about a thousand stiffy disk images. From Slackware he moved to Redhat (briefly), and then to SuSE, eventually settling on Ubuntu, the distribution he currently uses for both desktop and server implementations, and CentOS, when Ubuntu is not an option. He has recently started investigating Vyatta as a firewall solution, and is busy developing a web management interface that adds an easy management and reporting interface to it.
In addition to Linux, Jason has around 20 years of networking experience with everything from the old concentrators to modern gigabit switches and routers. His speciality is network security and routing, and these are the areas he is strongest in. He also has experience with Microsoft operating systems from NT4 through to Server 2008.
Jason currently acts as the head of the ICT division at dotnet, and as CEO of dotnet itself.
